Member of Colts Drum and Bugle Corps - Dubuque, IA 2004-2011 Color Guard Captain in 2011.
The Colts are a World Class member of Drum Corps International (DCI). Participating in Drum Corps prepared me to be an adaptable, mentally grounded, travel enthusiast who can always be congenial and go with the flow. I was taught to see all problems as merely inconveniences that can be easily overcome, and to use discipline, determination, and perseverance as my strengths to push through grueling weeks of fourteen-hour rehearsal days and long sleepless touring nights. I have performed for hundreds of thousands of people and have made friends in almost every state, and five countries. Drum Corps taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to, and the lessons of responsibility, hard work, respect, and constantly pursuing a better version of myself are the lessons that I carry with me forever, and teach to the children I work with.
